Project Overview

Our team was tasked to design the entire user experience and interface for an expansion to the popular Borderlands series, with a new twist of dynamic fantasy elements.

 

This was a collaborative effort working with the amazing teams at Sprung Studios and Gearbox Software.

Outcome

As an icon designer, matching the look and feel of the established concept art and interface design was truly a challenge.

However, working in small teams gave me the creative freedom to explore unique concepts while working efficiently with concise directions.

 

The game was a huge success when it released in March 2022. After many meetings, testing, and iterating concepts, the teams at Gearbox were very happy with the final design. I learned that a cohesive interface design was crucial to deliver an immersive user experience, as it acts as a bridge that connects the players to the virtual world.
